Laney's LX Series are the right choice for beginner or more advanced players because they offer quality sound wrapped up in a package that's affordably priced. While these are the entry-level line of guitars that this British manufacturer offers, there's certainly no reason to worry that they'll be ripped off in any way - you can expect a beautiful clean and a very accomplished heavily distorted sound from the LX, and anything in between. What these combos are built to do, the Laney LXs do it to a tee.
Specifically, the LX 65 is the second member of this family. This 2-channel transistor unit, whose channels can be switched by footswitch, has a power output of 60W and is equipped with a 12-inch diameter speaker from the renowned Celestion workshops. It is therefore the ideal solution for playing in the rehearsal room or on club stages.
All the controls can be found on the front panel. Behind the guitar input is the Volume control for adjusting the overall volume and a section for adjusting the clean channel equalization. These are the Bass, Middle and Treble potentiometers. Behind this section is a switch for switching to the second, distorted channel. The latter has Crunch and Volume controls to adjust its level of distortion and volume, and a standard 3-band EQ, so again Bass, Middle and Treble controls. The last potentiometer is the built-in reverb level control. The only remaining elements are the Line-Out output, the footswitch input and the stereo RCA input for devices such as CD or mp3 players.
