The Chapman ML1 Hybrid electric guitars from the Standard series were inspired by the modified instruments of the 1980s, when guitarists changed the original single-coil design to HSS by replacing the pickups with humbuckers. The mahogany body of the ML1 Hybrid Abyss is adorned with a spectacular veneer of flamed maple. The beautiful grain of the wood is enhanced by a spectacular colour finish and gloss lacquer. The neck and fingerboard are made of heat-treated, or "baked", maple. Twenty-two jumbo nickel frets divide the fingerboard surface. Orientation on its surface is facilitated by a distinctive mother-of-pearl inlay on the twelfth fret and front and side position dots. Playing comfort is guaranteed by the rounded edges of the fingerboard, the contoured upper and lower body cutouts at the neck and the practical tummy/belly cut.
The combination of the company's proprietary pickups, a cobbler humbucker and two single-coils, provides the guitar with a wide variety of sounds that will make it at home in many musical genres. It will serve you well as an "all-rounder", where you will be able to play a genre-diverse set on one guitar. The character of the sound can be adjusted using the volume and tone diaphragm potentiometers and the five-position pickup switch, with position 2 offering the Bridge coil-split + Middle configuration.
Precise tuning is guaranteed by the company's 18:1 gear ratio mechanics. On the other side, the strings are mounted in a Chapman tremolo with two-point anchoring.
