The KMS 104 and KMS 104 Plus feature a cardioid capsule with excellent suppression of sounds coming from the direction opposite the microphone axis. In contrast, the supercardioid KMS 105 also effectively suppresses sounds from the entire 180° hemisphere opposite the axis. The KMS 104 Plus has accentuated low tones compared to the KMS 104. This accentuation, which resulted from the demands of professional musicians, makes the KMS 104 Plus microphone ideal for the female voice, especially in the rock and pop genres.
The studio condenser capsules used in both microphones perfectly reproduce even the finest details of the human voice. Compared to other microphones, the KMS 104/104 Plus and KMS 105 have a clearer sound and wider frequency range.
Since vocal microphones are supposed to be used for singing from a short distance, the microphone is equipped with electronic compensation for the "proximity" effect. It also has a built-in bass filter (120 Hz/-3 dB). The microphone's very low noise (18 dB-A) allows a high "gain" to be set without problems with other noise signals. Thanks to the use of transformerless circuitry, even long microphone cables can be used without signal loss.
The KMS 104/104 Plus and KMS 105 have a rugged construction and a metal body with a reinforced jacket. The protective grille of the microphone head is made of hardened steel.
In January 2011, the KMS 104 Plus microphone won the TEC Award - 1st place in the Microphone Sound Reinforcement category.
It is available in matt nickel and matt black.
