Boss MT-2 Metal Zone is a true legend among metal distortion pedals. Ownership of this box was commonplace in its day, and its sound shaped countless metal recordings in the 1990s. As a guitarist, if you needed a massive thick distortion, i.e. to play anything from Metallica to Cannibal Corpse to Dead Infection, then the MT-2 pedal was the obvious choice. What's more, despite the advent of powerful Hi-Gain amps, it hasn't lost its relevance and can still be found in many guitar pedalboards today.

The box has four controls, with Level determining the output volume level and Dist determining the amount of distortion. The middle two potentiometers determine the character (colour) of the sound - the left one adds/decreases treble and bass, the right one shapes the sound in the midrange. Like all current Boss pedals, the MT-2 operates in Buffered Bypass mode. Power is supplied by a 9V battery or 9V adapter.
