NAUTILUS pushes the boundaries of what a synthesizer and workstation can do. With the power of nine sound modules, a new approach to sounds, rich sampling, an audio recorder, effects and a powerful processor, there is simply no other synth that offers more in sound discovery, with a way of working that is faster than ever before.

Nine different sound modules offer tremendous expressive power

NAUTILUS includes nine special sound modules for realistic reproduction of sounds such as pianos, electric pianos, organs and more. The enhanced SGX-2 piano sound generator offers subtle expressiveness that captures all the nuances of an acoustic piano, and NAUTILUS has the most piano libraries ever in a single product; with 12 velocity-switched sounds, string resonance and more. The EP-1 electric piano sound generator realistically reproduces seven different famous electric piano sounds. The CX-3 engine - the heart of the sought-after CX-3 reissue - offers the distinctive sound of a classic electrophone organ. Add to that the MOD-7 VPM/FM synthesizer, the PolysixEX and MS-20EX for analog modeling, and the STR-1 for physical modeling, and you basically have an engine for any type of sound you want to get. Used together in Program or Combination modes, these distinctive engines create entirely new sonic colors.

New sounds offered in three broad categories

Korg's approach to sound in Nautilus starts by setting aside preconceived notions of what sound should be on a conventional music workstation, and instead focuses on pushing the boundaries of sampling and programming to create an entirely new classification of programs, which are divided into three groups:

- "Unique" sounds: NAUTILUS brings you distinctive sounds including phrase loops, prepared pianos, found percussion and more. Many rare musical instruments found in different regions around the world can be difficult to play, but the distinctive phrases played on these instruments are stored in NAUTILUS. Use these phrases as they appear in your compositions - let your imagination guide you. NAUTILUS contains sounds that we sampled for the first time for this instrument, including pre-made pianos created by placing various objects between the piano strings and recording samples, or "found percussion" sounds created by turning common objects into percussion instruments. These unusual and mysterious sounds not only add an unexpected flavor to your composition, but also a wide range of possibilities for creating sound effects for use in film and television music.

- "Contemporary" sounds: NAUTILUS also brings in cutting-edge sounds that are well suited to today's music scene, including synthesizers, drum kits, special effects and more, covering all genres. For synths, be sure to check out the EDM, electro and chiptune sounds for beginners. NAUTILUS also includes over 50 different drum kits - the sounds that most reflect the changes in music over time. Special effect sounds offer useful material like drums added to dance music to create beats - sounds you can use right away.

- Standard sounds: Korg has collected all the most important sounds a workstation needs, including pianos, electric pianos, guitars, basses and more, for all genres. For the newly sampled piano sound, there's a pleasantly ambient studio space with which you can freely combine the piano sound. A new electric piano model has been added with a characteristic fat sound that is great for funk playing styles. In addition, many phrases have been added that allow you to play real guitar and bass parts that keyboardists will find useful.

DYNAMICS knob for subtle expression

With the DYNAMICS knob, you can instantly control changes in volume and sound color according to how hard you play the keyboard (velocity); and customize the keyboard's playing feel for each style and song in real time. Even if you're playing the same sound, by turning this knob you can get the feel of playing a completely different sound. When you find the right settings for your playing style, you'll uncover even more possibilities that NAUTILUS has to offer.

When you activate DYNAMICS and turn it to the left, the keyboard responds to your playing more gently, giving you a greater dynamic range. This allows for subtle, expressive playing when accompanying piano solos or vocals that directly reflect the dynamics of your performance. On the other hand, turning the knob to the right gives you a stronger, flatter dynamic response. This pulls out a sound when playing in a band or orchestra that sounds better when balanced.

Intuitive real-time sound changes controlled by the knobs

The six RT (real-time) knobs on the top left panel give you direct control over PROG and COMBI sound changes. Each knob is assigned a number of functions, allowing you to enjoy changing sounds such as filter frequency clipping and effect depth, gate time, arpeggiator tempo and swing, or drum track, small drum type, and more. In COMBI mode, you can group timbres and control their level with knobs. You can also push these knobs into the panel to lock them in place and prevent them from changing accidentally during play. You can use this to activate only the knobs you use frequently on stage, and push the ones you don't need.

User interface designed for easy operation

The MODE button shows you on one screen what you've selected in each mode, from PROG and COMBI to Set list, Sampling, Sequence and Global modes. Each mode has tabs for each function, and the PAGE buttons offer even more detailed editing. With Nautilus' user-friendly navigation, you can press the MODE button at any time to return to the beginning if you get lost. A dark mode is available for the display, which uses black as the primary color to alleviate eyestrain.

Six quick access buttons are also available as shortcuts. NAUTILUS also offers four templates in the user-friendly features that can be used to select modes such as PROG and COMBI, as transport buttons for playback and recording in the sequencer, and so on. You can also choose your own settings to taste. In addition, you can freely assign your frequently used functions and store them in one of four sets.

Convenient arpeggiator and drum track functions

There are four scenes containing arpeggio patters and drum tracks that perfectly complement each PROG and COMBI preset sound. They can be used and switched while playing, help improvisation during a performance, or expand your perspective when composing music when you start with a sound.

Set list mode to show its power in live performances

NAUTILUS can organize all the resources you need to navigate through during a song - or a set - using Set List mode. In Set list mode, the TouchView display includes 16 color touch buttons; each one can instantly recall the appropriate preset, combination or sequence - regardless of the mode you choose!

You can also select different button colours, for example if you want different colours in a song when playing live. This is an excellent feature in situations that require fast and precise control. Set list mode also adds a 9-band graphic equalizer that allows for audio corrections of the performance venue.

TouchView colour display

The nerve centre of the Nautilus is KORG's huge 8-inch (800 x 480 pixel) WVGA TouchView colour display. In addition to easy sound or parameter selection with the touch of a finger, the Touch-Drag enhancement allows more detailed control of parameter values. Interactive tools and graphics provide the ability to customize everything from adjusting the top plate of a concert grand piano to connecting cables on a semi-modular model synthesizer. The TouchView display also has a convenient new Search function that lets you search for (and listen to) sounds by their names.

Open Sampling System

Using Korg's Open Sampling system, NAUTILUS can quickly sample an external sound source, regardless of whether NAUTILUS is in Program, Combination or Sequencer mode. Open Sampling mode can even resample the game to NAUTILUS itself. The User Sample Bank, which extends the EXS sample library with user samples, allows you to record and play back your own samples while taking advantage of the SSD's gigantic capacity.

Samples in AIFF, WAV, SoundFont 2.0 and AKAI S1000/3000 formats can be loaded into the memory using a USB key. In addition, you can use the USB Ethernet adapter to transfer large amounts of sample data at high speed from your computer. Instruments or samples that you have previously created on your computer can be used to create music productions based on NAUTILUS alone.

16-track MIDI sequencer / 16-track audio recorder

NAUTILUS has a sequencer/recorder section that offers 16 MIDI tracks plus 16 audio tracks; a great way to put together a dazzling performance or brilliant production. MIDI sequencing makes it easy to capture ideas, inspiration and professional-quality phrasing with drum tracks or RPPR (Realtime Pattern Play/Recording) features.

The 16-track audio recorder simultaneously records up to 4 tracks of 16-/24-bit uncompressed data at 48 kHz sampling rate. Play along with the recorded tracks, add effects, then resample the NAUTILUS itself and insert the resampled WAV files directly into the track. When you've finished your tracks, feel free to use the mix automation and editing features like copy, paste and normalize to get the result you want.

16 effects processors

NATILUS offers 16 built-in effects to accentuate your audio creation. Each of the 12 Insert effects can be applied to one or more timbres in combination, or to single or multiple tracks in a sequencer. In addition, two Master Effects can be applied to 1/2 sends, and two Total Effects can be applied to all tracks at the final point of audio processing. There is a separate three-band equalizer for each timbre, for each track in the sequencer, and for each audio track to fine-balance the sound or for creative editing.

73 and 61 key model with lightly balanced keyboard

The 73 and 61 key model have a very high quality lightweight synth keyboard and allow you to play organ parts with glissando, as well as synth solos that use a wide keyboard range. While the 88-key model is fitted with luxurious wooden side panels, the 73- and 61-key models have a completely new design with impressive curves that rise from the depths of the instrument and clearly recall the famous ancestor of NAUTILUS: a submarine named Nautilus and a mollusk from the cephalopod class. All of these elements make NAUTILUS a distinctive and distinctive instrument on stage.

Free music software package

NAUTILUS comes with a variety of music software from Izotope: "Ozone Elements", with which you can not only create songs but also master them with the help of artificial intelligence, "Skoove" to help you improve your keyboard skills, "Reason Lite" DAW software, as well as software synthesizers from KORG and other brands.

In other words, the moment you start playing this synth, you'll have a plethora of tools to help you take your music to the next level.
