DYNAMICS knob for subtle expression
With the DYNAMICS knob, you can instantly control changes in volume and sound color according to how hard you play the keyboard (velocity); and customize the keyboard's playing feel for each style and song in real time. Even if you're playing the same sound, by turning this knob you can get the feel of playing a completely different sound. When you find the right settings for your playing style, you'll uncover even more possibilities that NAUTILUS has to offer.
When you activate DYNAMICS and turn it to the left, the keyboard responds to your playing more gently, giving you a greater dynamic range. This allows for subtle, expressive playing when accompanying piano solos or vocals that directly reflect the dynamics of your performance. On the other hand, turning the knob to the right gives you a stronger, flatter dynamic response. This pulls out a sound when playing in a band or orchestra that sounds better when balanced.
Intuitive real-time sound changes controlled by the knobs
The six RT (real-time) knobs on the top left panel give you direct control over PROG and COMBI sound changes. Each knob is assigned a number of functions, allowing you to enjoy changing sounds such as filter frequency clipping and effect depth, gate time, arpeggiator tempo and swing, or drum track, small drum type, and more. In COMBI mode, you can group timbres and control their level with knobs. You can also push these knobs into the panel to lock them in place and prevent them from changing accidentally during play. You can use this to activate only the knobs you use frequently on stage, and push the ones you don't need.
User interface designed for easy operation
The MODE button shows you on one screen what you've selected in each mode, from PROG and COMBI to Set list, Sampling, Sequence and Global modes. Each mode has tabs for each function, and the PAGE buttons offer even more detailed editing. With Nautilus' user-friendly navigation, you can press the MODE button at any time to return to the beginning if you get lost. A dark mode is available for the display, which uses black as the primary color to alleviate eyestrain.
Six quick access buttons are also available as shortcuts. NAUTILUS also offers four templates in the user-friendly features that can be used to select modes such as PROG and COMBI, as transport buttons for playback and recording in the sequencer, and so on. You can also choose your own settings to taste. In addition, you can freely assign your frequently used functions and store them in one of four sets.

Set list mode to show its power in live performances
NAUTILUS can organize all the resources you need to navigate through during a song - or a set - using Set List mode. In Set list mode, the TouchView display includes 16 color touch buttons; each one can instantly recall the appropriate preset, combination or sequence - regardless of the mode you choose!
You can also select different button colours, for example if you want different colours in a song when playing live. This is an excellent feature in situations that require fast and precise control. Set list mode also adds a 9-band graphic equalizer that allows for audio corrections of the performance venue.
TouchView colour display
The nerve centre of the Nautilus is KORG's huge 8-inch (800 x 480 pixel) WVGA TouchView colour display. In addition to easy sound or parameter selection with the touch of a finger, the Touch-Drag enhancement allows more detailed control of parameter values. Interactive tools and graphics provide the ability to customize everything from adjusting the top plate of a concert grand piano to connecting cables on a semi-modular model synthesizer. The TouchView display also has a convenient new Search function that lets you search for (and listen to) sounds by their names.
Open Sampling System
Using Korg's Open Sampling system, NAUTILUS can quickly sample an external sound source, regardless of whether NAUTILUS is in Program, Combination or Sequencer mode. Open Sampling mode can even resample the game to NAUTILUS itself. The User Sample Bank, which extends the EXS sample library with user samples, allows you to record and play back your own samples while taking advantage of the SSD's gigantic capacity.
Samples in AIFF, WAV, SoundFont 2.0 and AKAI S1000/3000 formats can be loaded into the memory using a USB key. In addition, you can use the USB Ethernet adapter to transfer large amounts of sample data at high speed from your computer. Instruments or samples that you have previously created on your computer can be used to create music productions based on NAUTILUS alone.
16-track MIDI sequencer / 16-track audio recorder
NAUTILUS has a sequencer/recorder section that offers 16 MIDI tracks plus 16 audio tracks; a great way to put together a dazzling performance or brilliant production. MIDI sequencing makes it easy to capture ideas, inspiration and professional-quality phrasing with drum tracks or RPPR (Realtime Pattern Play/Recording) features.
The 16-track audio recorder simultaneously records up to 4 tracks of 16-/24-bit uncompressed data at 48 kHz sampling rate. Play along with the recorded tracks, add effects, then resample the NAUTILUS itself and insert the resampled WAV files directly into the track.
