The bass has been reliced from the factory. The maple neck with rosewood fingerboard is perfectly crafted and fits well in the hand. Thanks to the shortened gauge, it is more comfortable for guitarists or players of smaller proportions. The shorter menza also has an effect on the sound, which is characterized by great clarity in the lower mids.
The nitrocellulose lacquer is "gridded" over the entire body surface like a 1960s instrument, with the lacquer bouncing off in a few places. The overall vintage feel of the instrument's sound is accentuated by a premium Fender Precision-style split-coil pickup from American boutique manufacturer Lollar.
The bass was custom made in 2019 for a customer in Prague. Relic Depot is a small Moscow-based boutique workshop founded by respected guitarist Andrey Shelgov. Originally an antique furniture restorer by profession, he decided years ago to pursue his passion for guitars and old lacquers, which he bought from online bazaars around the world, as well as period paint swatches. As an expert in artificially restoring instruments, he was sought after by discerning buyers from all over the world. You can read an interesting article about his work here (if you don't know Russian, have Google translate it into English):

The Russian origins of the tool especially raise questions nowadays. Unfortunately, Andrey Shelgov died in May 2021, so we will not ask him about his position on the current Russian war against Ukraine. However, the previous owner did not give up and used the internet to find Shelgov's friend, colleague and also guitarist, Mikhail Tyunov. Their correspondence resulted in a post that went viral on social media last year.

If Andrey Shelgov were alive, he would have been sharpening guitars, labored over 1950s Cadillac paint swatches, and condemned his government's aggressive policies as much as we do.

The instrument is in near mint condition, no damage. It is sold under the BAZAAR VAT regime.
