TAYLOR Builders Edition 614ce WHB

The Taylor 614ce WHB is an electroacoustic guitar from the Builder's Edition series, which brings together top-of-the-line guitars made in El Cajon, California, with many luxurious design features including patented V-Class ribbing. This is a Grand Auditorium, a totally versatile instrument suitable for both pick and fingerstyle playing.

The front of the guitar is made of Sitka spruce, while the back and sides are made of North American Big Leaf maple. The spruce soundboard has undergone a torefaction process before assembly, i.e. a heat treatment after which the top of the guitar takes on the look and sound characteristics of a summer-aged wood. The patented V-Class ribbing improves the guitar's performance in three aspects - increasing the instrument's volume, extending sustain and improving intonation.

The maple neck is glued to an ebony fingerboard fitted with twenty frets. A subtle contoured lower body cutout provides easy fingerboard control even at the highest fretboard positions without having to change the position of the left hand. The stability of tuning is guaranteed by the attachment of the strings through the graphite zero fret in the ebony headstock and the mechanics of the renowned Gotoh brand with a gear ratio of 21:1. Other styling features include an impressive body and neck finish in Wild Honey Burst, contoured body armrest, rounded fingerboard edges, wood rosette, ebony body and fingerboard binding, position markers in the form of ornate mother of pearl inlays (Mother of Pearl), gold-finished hardware and mother of pearl company logo (Mother of Pearl) on the headstock.

This is a completely unique way of capturing sound that takes the possibilities of realistic sound reproduction to unprecedented dimensions. Three specially designed independent piezoelectric pickups located behind the headstock are used for pickups. Unlike conventional pickups, they don't sense the up and down movement of the board, but the natural back and forth vibration of the grasshopper seat. This makes the sound much more natural, colourful, pleasing and responsive to the dynamics of the playing. The new preamp also makes the signal 25% stronger. Of course, feedback is eliminated and the volume, bass and treble can be adjusted.
