The DOD Rubberneck is an analog delay with a warm sound and extended modulation functions.
Three large knobs adjust basic parameters such as time (30 - 1000 ms and up to 1.5 s after activating the Tap Tempo function), echo count and delay volume.
The real fun, however, starts underneath. A combined Rate/Depth potentiometer modulates the delay time to create chorus- or vibrato-like effects, while another Gain/Tone potentiometer affects the amount of saturation and pitch clipping of the effect signal.
Rhythmic variations (fourths, eighths, dotted eighths) and Tails can be set using the side switches - if desired, the echo can reverberate naturally after the effect is turned off. The On-No Dry position then removes the original signal from the signal path and only the echo itself is heard.
The footswitches are not only used to activate the effect and set the tempo, but when pressed and held, the effect signal can also be modulated in real time. Thus, the Effect On switch also allows for a "sliding" Rubbernecking effect reminiscent of working with a vibrato lever, while the second switch, in addition to its main function, also modulates phrase repeats. The progression of these special effects can be adjusted by potentiometers next to the switches, which also act as visual indicators of the individual parameters.
There is also an effects loop and an input for an external footswitch. The effect is powered by a 9V adapter (not included) and operates in True Bypass mode, so it does not affect the pass-through signal in the off state.
