The D5 is an all-new dynamic microphone with a next-generation design. AKG has used a completely new Laminate Varimotion™ microphone diaphragm technology in the design. This ensures a balanced frequency response and, together with the supercardioid directional characteristic, high resistance to feedback. However, the design of the "de five" contains one more interesting element and that is its diaphragm, whose thickness is not constant but changes with its diameter. This guarantees excellent sound throughout the entire frequency range. The entire microphone cartridge is housed in a double-sprung mount that guarantees high resistance to handling noise. The microphone is also fitted with a gold-plated XLR connector. The D5 is also available in a version with a switch, which is designated D5S.
