That's why Warm Audio has come up with a reincarnation of this legendary microphone - the WA-67! Like its predecessor, it is based on the EF86 pentode tube and offers the same soft, creamy tone as the original. You'll appreciate its sound when recording almost anything you put in front of it. It will certainly become your choice when recording vocals, guitar, tom and overhead percussion, piano, strings and wind instruments.
ATTENTION TO EVERY DETAIL
Warm audio has a long tradition of producing high-end studio equipment. Competing productions often offer equipment that is only "look-alike" to the originals, but apart from looks, they bring nothing of the exceptional sonic character and soul of their legendary predecessors.
At Warm Audio, this is no different, the company devotes considerable effort and time to delivering the most authentic sound and experience to its customers. They often use the same components and internal circuit design that were used in their predecessors.
In manufacturing the WA-67, they spent considerable energy and time to recreate the discrete circuitry of the original microphone, using only boutique components, all at a more than affordable price.
HIGH-END COMPONENTS
The EF86 tube used is well known for its characteristic properties that flatter sound sources, and this is just one of the reasons why the original U67 microphone is still in demand. At Warm Audio, they've gone even further and, in addition to a clone of the original EF86 capsule and tube, they've supplemented the microphone with other high-end components from the original circuit, such as capacitors from Wima and Solen and a transformer from Sweden's Lundahl (the latter plays a significant role in the WA-67's soft high-frequency response and huge three-dimensional sound). It's all encased in a sturdy nickel-plated brass body. The capsule is housed in a basket that provides handling protection, additional shielding from unwanted noise, and superior sonic performance.
Last but not least, the quality of the 7-pin cable that connects the tube (valve) microphone to its power supply is also of crucial importance, carrying both the audio signals and the voltage for the tube (over different pins) simultaneously. That's why the top quality GAC-7 cable from top Swiss manufacturer Gotham Audio was used.
This special cable is directly involved in the microphone's performance and its exceptional sonic qualities.
The package includes a cushioned microphone holder, power supply and a wooden carrying case for safe transport.
