The BBTe Walnut is an addition to Taylor's line of more compact Big Baby instruments. It is a 15/16 size guitar in the standard Dreadnought models. The front is made of solid Sitka spruce, while the back and sides are made of laminated walnut. Glued to the maple neck is an ebony fingerboard fitted with twenty frets and positioned dots of imitation mother-of-pearl.
The strings are mounted in chrome die-cast Taylor mechanisms over the NuBone zero fret. The visual impact is accentuated by traditional elements in the form of a simple rosette and a practical pickguard in imitation tortoiseshell.
The guitar's sound is provided by the ES-B (Expression System Baby) preamp installed in the back of the instrument, which is based on the ES-2 system developed by Taylor, a unique way of capturing sound using three piezo pickups placed behind the neck. In addition, the preamplifier offers two controls (Tone, Volume), a built-in chromatic tuner and a clear LED display.
