An authentic replica of the Roland JD-800 synthesizer in the form of a modern portable instrument. With its retro workflow, captivating sounds and powerful effects, the JD-800 was the instrument of choice for top electronic music producers in the 1990s and beyond. The JD-08 combines the original JD-800's curves with advanced modeling techniques to deliver the excellent practical sound design of the original, along with hugely expanded polyphony, a two-part polyphonic sequencer, and other modern innovations.

Inspiring sound design at your fingertips.
In the early 1990s, digital synthesizers with preset functions and limited controls were prevalent. The JD-800 changed that in 1991, returning the synthesizer world to its roots with a control panel and an aggressively electronic palette of sounds. Featuring 64 presets from the original hardware, the JD-08 perfectly reproduces the four-tone structure, 108 curves, and unique two-part multieffects that are the foundation of the JD-800's complex, evolving sound.

An expanded sound for the modern age.
The original design of the JD-800 has been retained in this modern version, but we've added a number of innovations that take the playing experience to a new level. New patches and 256 memory locations allow you to dive into the vast array of controls and create new sounds for your music. And with expanded polyphony and a two-part multitimbral feature, you have even more room to develop your sound ideas.

Music that moves.
Once you've completed your patches, launch the two-part polyphonic sequencer and start programming main melodies, basses, or basic chords to sync with other tracks in your electronic file. To inject more energy into your sounds, use the motion recording and built-in arpeggiator to make your tunes dance.

MIDI, USB and external clock input.
The JD-08 has a built-in audio/MIDI interface with USB-C so you can play, record and sync with all types of computer production software. Full MIDI inputs/outputs are also available for interfacing with other MIDI hardware. There's even an external clock input for controlling the JD-08's built-in sequencer and arpeggiator from vintage analog instruments and modern Eurorack systems.

Grab your keys. And hit the road.
The JD-08's compact size means it fits absolutely anywhere and is easily controlled from a master keyboard or DAW. It can run on standard AA batteries for hours of undisturbed jamming, and also has a built-in speaker for on-the-go audio monitoring. Add the DK-01 Boutique Dock for a sleek look and three handy tilt positions, or get the K-25m keyboard unit to create a fully self-contained portable instrument.
