The front of the guitar is made of solid Sitka spruce, while the back and sides are also made of solid sapele wood, which is very similar in properties and sound to mahogany. The Select Hardwood neck, which is attached to the body at the fourteenth fret as standard, is joined by a 20-fret fingerboard made of the modern composite material Richlite. The good acoustic properties of the guitar are accentuated by the reduced X-type (Scalloped X-Brace) ribbing of the soundboard.
The compensated TUSQ composite saddle on the Richlite headstock provides the strings with excellent resonance and sustain, along with the Corian fretboard. The guitar's stylish look is accentuated by chrome tuning mechanisms and a pickguard made of imitation tortoiseshell, which also protects the guitar's paintwork from scratches.
The American Martin company, founded in 1833, is deservedly one of the biggest and most respected names in stringed instruments. For decades, it has been one of the leading innovators in guitar design and manufacturing technology. However, to use only the past tense would be a great mistake; instruments with the Martin logo are still today among the guarantees of the highest quality in craftsmanship and sound. In addition, their current products use "eco-friendly" components made from renewable resources and composite materials.
