Martin D-42

The Martin D-42 acoustic guitar is a true embodiment of the timeless sound and design of dreadnought guitars that has found its way across musical genres and has shaped the shape of modern popular music for decades. The instrument is part of the Standard series, bringing together superbly crafted models in classic Martin designs, and comes in a moulded case, making it instantly ready to be loaded into your car/van for long or short journeys in pursuit of your musical dreams.

The front of the guitar is made from solid Sitka spruce, while the back and sides are also made from solid select East Indian rosewood. The resonance of the soundboard and the overall good acoustic properties of the guitar are enhanced by the hand-cut Scalloped Forward-Shifted X-Brace.

The neck, made of real mahogany (wood from the Swietenia family of trees - Honduran, American/Cuban or Mexican mahogany), is joined to the body at the fourteenth fret as standard, and is fitted with a 20-fret ebony fingerboard in an impressive gold finish. Orientation around its surface is facilitated by the front pearl markers (Abalone) in snowflake design and side black dots. Precise tuning and good sustain are guaranteed by the string attachment through the compensated saddle and bone zero fret in open mechanics in gold and ebony headstock.

The refined look of the instrument is accentuated by a number of luxurious decorative elements in the form of a mother-of-pearl rosette and Abalone headstock, decorative backplate, Antique White body, fingerboard and headstock binding, rosewood veneer on the headstock with mother-of-pearl company logo, Butterbean tuning pegs and a practical pickguard made of imitation tortoiseshell, which also protects the guitar's lacquer from scratches.

The American Martin company, founded in 1833, is deservedly one of the biggest and most respected names in stringed instruments. For decades, it has been one of the leading innovators in guitar design and manufacturing technology. However, to use only the past tense would be a great mistake; instruments with the Martin logo are still today among the guarantees of the highest quality in craftsmanship and sound. In addition, their current products use "eco-friendly" components made from renewable resources and composite materials.
