The D-28 Dreadnought acoustic guitar from the Standard series is one of Martin's true flagship instruments. Its sound and playability have been loved by many players across musical genres, such as Hank Williams Sr. and Jimmy Page. So there's no reason why it shouldn't appeal to you too - and it doesn't matter if you're a seasoned, stage-struck player, collector or just a simple enthusiast.

The front of the guitar is made from solid Sitka spruce, the back and sides from solid Indian rosewood. This combination of woods gives the instrument great sound projection, tonal articulation and balance across the frequency spectrum. The resonance of the soundboard and the overall good acoustic properties of the guitar are enhanced by the special X-type (Forward-Shifted X-Brace) ribbing.

A select hardwood neck, which is attached to the body at the fourteenth fret as standard, is joined by a 20-fret ebony fingerboard. Mother-of-pearl markings make the fingerboard easy to navigate, which you'll certainly appreciate when performing in backlit environments. A compensated bone saddle set on an ebony fingerboard gives the strings, along with a bone fretboard, great resonance and sustain. A tortoiseshell imitation pickguard protects the guitar's lacquer from scratches caused by pick playing. The final look of the instrument is accentuated by chrome tuning machines and white binding.

The American Martin company, founded in 1833, is deservedly one of the biggest and most respected names in stringed instruments. For decades, it has been one of the leading innovators in guitar design and manufacturing technology. However, to use only the past tense would be a great mistake; instruments with the Martin logo are still today among the guarantees of the highest quality in craftsmanship and sound.
