The KORG i3 is a full-size workstation with 61 standard-sized dynamic keys. The keyboard response is adjustable via three touch curves, with a fourth setting turning off the dynamics. Transpose buttons change the keyboard tuning in the range of + - two octaves. A professional joystick allows for real-time articulation of pitch, vibrato and tone color while playing. Dual-band EQ (treble and bass) adjusts the overall sound the way you want it. All front-panel buttons and controls are conveniently grouped by function, and the backlit LCD display provides instant visual feedback regarding the instrument's current settings. Use the encoder wheel to quickly adjust the value of on-screen parameters. The black rubberized finish, and perforated side panels give the instrument a distinctive attractive design.

Including a complete set of GM2 sounds to give you full compatibility with General MIDI. We're talking serious pro sounds here, as i3 distinguishes between Sound Sets, that's combinations of sounds designed for real-time keyboard play, and Style Performance Sets, that's sounds and musical parts generated by i3 to accompany your playing. Each of the 200 Sound Sets allows you to spread up to four sounds on your keyboard. Three layered on top of each other in the right part of the keyboard and another sound in the left part of the keyboard. A high quality PCM sound source provides 64 voice polyphony. Two stereo effects, each with 173 variations give movement, depth, and expression to each of these sounds. Conveniently press the Grand Piano button and the i3 instantly gives you the sound of a premium piano, no matter what mode the instrument is currently in.

Choose the right Style Performance Set and i3 will fill in your production with the missing parts - the right beat and bass line, some percussion and any other backing part you'd like to add. A precision phrasing funky brass section? Guitar licks? A violin quartet or a gritty blues organ? Your backing track can consist of up to eight parts. Each of the 270 styles contains four Performance Set alternatives, each with a different set of backing sounds. The same is true for all Sound Sets designed for live keyboard playing. A button selects or deselects any accompaniment or real-time part at any time, and you can also adjust the volume of each part whenever you want. As you get a little more familiar with i3, you'll find that you can swap accompaniment sounds, grooves and parts between Style Performance Sets to create new custom Performance settings. The active accompaniment parts will respond to chord changes and your voice and adapt to your needs. If you just need a spark to get your creative juices flowing, Chord's eight buttons can suggest and play ready-made chords to take your creative process further. In fact, each style is a complete ready-made song creation environment where you'll find matching sounds, parts and, when needed, chords. In addition, each style includes four rhythmic variations, a count-in, a transition, an intro and an ending. Like the Party Real Time Sound sets, the Party Style Performance sets feature 2 independent stereo effects, each with 173 variations that add movement, depth and expression to the sound.

Compose it! Play it! Record it! Share it with the world, or maybe just your mates. The KORG i3 workstation offers many ways to capture the results of your creation. They can be saved, edited, or shared. All settings used to create a Song or Performance - Style Performance sets, Sound sets, Tempo, Effects, etc., can be saved to a single Set List position and are available at any time. You have 10 banks of Set Lists, each with five positions. In Normal mode, the i3 sequencer operates as a 16-track track-by-track linear recorder, just like in virtually any serious workstation. This way, you can edit each track at any time, or replace it with another, just as with a normal sequencer. After recording, your finished project can be exported as a MIDI data file. What makes KORG i3 unique is its Performance Recording mode, in which you can record your entire musical performance as an audio file and export it as an audio .WAV (44.1 kHz) file. The i3 sequencer can even play audio files saved in .WAV (44.1 kHz) or MP3 format.
Alone, on stage or in the studio
The KORG i3 music workstation is ready for any situation and offers a multitude of connectors on the rear panel. When not powered by battery, the i3 can be connected to a suitable AC power source using the serial adapter supplied. There is a hook in the rear panel to hold the power cord to prevent damage to the tool if accidentally tripped. You'll find two 1/4" outputs (left/mono and right) for audio monitoring, as well as a 1/8" stereo headphone output. There is also a 1/8" audio input. There is a 1/4" jack for the foot controller, which can act as a foot switch pedal or Expression pedal depending on the i3's settings. MIDI output sends pitch, time dynamic information of notes performed from the i3 to other MIDI equipped instruments or audio devices. Two USB ports are available. The TO DEVICE USB Port allows you to store and load user data and songs to and from a USB stick. Use the USB port on the host computer to connect the i3 to a computer.
