The 1963 Stratocaster Super Heavy Relic is an electric guitar from the Fender Custom Shop with distinctive faux-patina touches that give the guitar the look and feel of an instrument that's been through perhaps every smoky bar in the east and west of the U.S., with the case last seen in a dealership.
The body of the guitar is made from two pieces of ash. A maple neck with a period '63-style "C" profile is glued to a rosewood fingerboard (3A quality) fitted with twenty-one frets of size
Narrow Tall.
A trio of hand-wound Custom Shop '60/'63 Strat single-coil pickups (the middle one has reversed polarity and windings) give the guitar a classic Strat sound and feel. The inclusion of the Fat '50s 1/2 Blender Strat pickups provides the benefit of expanding the possible pickup configurations by including a cob and neck pickup and all three pickups at once. The Greasebucket circuit allows you to take away the highs without accentuating the bass frequencies.
Strings are held in vintage-style tuning machines and a synchronized Custom Shop tremolo. The styling is accentuated by a three-layer mint green pickguard
