The 1954 Telecaster® DLX Closet Classic, 1-Piece Rift Sawn Maple Neck Fingerboard, Faded Nocaster® Blonde electric guitar from the Fender Custom Shop harkens back to the early years of Telecaster design. Specifically, to 1954, when the last Telecasters were made with a Nocaster Blonde finish and a single-ply black Bakelite pickguard, which was eventually replaced by a single-ply ABS plastic pickguard.
The body of the guitar is made of two pieces of ash. The finish of the DLX Closet Classic, with subtle elements of artificial patina in the form of subtle oxidation of metal parts, fine surface scratches on the body and headstock, slight fading of plastic parts, and an understated sheen, is meant to evoke an instrument that has rarely been taken out of its case over the decades or completely forgotten for long periods of time. The maple neck features a period '54-style "U" profile, the fingerboard surface divided by twenty-one Medium Vintage-size frets and black micarta dots.
Two hand-wound Fender Custom Shop Loaded '51 Nocaster single-coil pickups give the guitar the twang and feel of an early '50s Telecaster, just with a slightly higher output. Adjust the character of the sound using the standard controls. Strings are held in vintage-style tuning machines and through a Tele bridge with three brass saddles through the body. The stylish workmanship is accentuated by a single-ply black bakelite pickguard.
The guitar is supplied in a case with a certificate of authenticity and guitar strap.
