The DSM Simplifier Classic is a pure analogue preamp, poweramp and cab simulator in a compact pedal effect format that has successfully made its way into a world more or less dedicated to digital modelling technologies.
The analog preamp captures in minute detail the features and characteristics of the best and most popular clean channel preamps on the market - the vivid three-dimensional sound of the AC30, a true British classic from the 1960s, the warm dynamic sound with balanced response of American "blackface" deluxe machines, or the sound of British plexi-style machines that defined the shape of rock music. Adjust the settings of your chosen preamp style using the standard Volume, Gain and three-band EQ controls.
The poweramp section offers traditional Presence and Resonance controls for adjusting frequencies in the upper mids, bass and resonant peaks. A three-position switch mimics the different response of the EL34, 6L6 and KT88 end-effector tubes. In the Cab Sim section you can choose from two independent speaker simulations (Left, Right) with the Mic Position Left/Right controls determining the virtual microphone settings. For both simulations you can choose from three different speaker styles (1x12 Combo, 2x12 or 4x12) to combine with any of the three preamp voicings.
A more three-dimensional sound even with mono wiring is achieved with the Spread switch, which creates a pseudo stereo effect by shifting the phase on selected key frequencies of one of the channels. The DSM Simplifier Classic's wiring is mono input, stereo output (Jack 6.3 mm or XLR). Other features worth mentioning include a stereo effects loop, an Aux In input for external audio sources and a handy headphone output. A 9V adapter is required for power, battery power is not available.
