The Deering Siera five-string banjo has been one of the most popular professional models in the brand's range for several decades. It belongs to the so-called resonators, i.e. it has a domed cover made of stained maple with white trim on the back, which adds clarity and good sustain to the tone. A bronze tone-ring -06- adheres to the body made of three layers of maple (violin grade), to which an eleven-inch brass rim is attached.
The maple neck with two-way bracing is joined by an ebony fingerboard fitted with twenty-two pakfong frets. Position markers in the form of decorative engravings facilitate orientation on its surface. The strings are mounted on one side in Planetary quality mechanisms, on the other side via a maple/ebony fingerboard in an adjustable Deering True Tone nickel-plated steel truss rod. Decorative engravings on the headstock, shoulder rest and decorative zinc one-piece flange complement the basic materials used both practically and visually.
All Deering instruments (from the professional models to the basic Goodtime range) are manufactured in Spring Valley, California, USA by skilled craftsmen. Here, each piece is given the same care and attention to meet strict quality standards.
