The Goodtime Two Plectrum model is a four-string banjo specifically suited for pick playing. It is most commonly tuned in C,G,B,D and its sound is most commonly encountered in jazz or folk. It belongs to the so-called resonators, i.e. it has an arched maple wood cover with black trim on the back. This gives it a clear tone with significantly better sound projection than open-back banjos. The instrument's maple fingerboard is fitted with twenty-two pakfong frets, and position markers make it easy to navigate its surface. An eleven-inch bellows is attached to the maple body by a steel rim. The strings are mounted in high-quality closed (guitar) mechanisms on one side, and in a nickel-plated steel stringing box on the other side via a maple/ebony fingerboard.
All Deering instruments (from professional models to the entry-level Goodtime line) are made in Spring Valley, California, USA by skilled craftsmen. Here, each piece is given the same care and attention to meet strict quality standards.
