Artisan banjos are distinguished from the "blonde" banjos of the Goodtime line by their dark stained maple neck. This model of the five-string Artisan Goodtime Two banjo is one of the so-called resonators, i.e. it has an arched dark stained maple wood cover with black trim on the back. As a result, it has a clear tone with significantly better sound projection than open-back banjos. It is an ideal choice for bluegrass and related genres.
The banjo's maple fingerboard is fitted with twenty-two pakfong frets, and position markers with Vintage Artisan design make it easy to navigate. An eleven-inch bellows is attached to the maple body with a steel rim. The strings are mounted in high quality Planetary mechanics on one side, and in a nickel-plated steel string through the maple/ebony fingerboard on the other. Tiny protrusions on the seventh, ninth and tenth frets of the fifth string allow for alternative tunings. The visual impact is accentuated by the stylish bow-shaped headstock with ornate Goodtime Special engraving.
All Deering instruments (from professional models to the entry-level Goodtime line) are made in Spring Valley, California, USA by skilled craftsmen. Here, each piece is given the same care and attention to meet strict quality standards.
