D'Angelico's Excel series represents instruments manufactured in the Republic of Korea, which, thanks to the quality of workmanship and components, will delight professional players and pure music enthusiasts.
The D'Angelico Excel DC XT Iced Tea Burst Quilt is a more luxurious version of the standard Excel DC model. Its sixteen-inch-wide body is composed of a laminated flake maple front and laminated maple back and sides. The puff maple finish is accented by the Iced Tea Burst color scheme. The center block reinforces the soundboard and counteracts the undesirable "binding" effect of the body.
The three-piece maple and walnut neck is glued to a rosewood fingerboard fitted with twenty-two Jescar 47/104 frets made of pakfong (nickel silver). The neck's narrow C profile ensures smooth finger movement on the fingerboard and a comfortable fingerboard, while the fingerboard orientation is facilitated by Mother of Pearl/Abalone split-block position blocks.
The two Seymour Duncan 59 humbuckers with gold caps offer the beautifully clean warm tone of vintage PAF humbuckers, while also offering single-coil character thanks to the push/pull function of the tone shutter potentiometers. The guitar's sound can be appreciated in rock, blues and other musical styles.
Stable tuning and good sustain are guaranteed by the attachment of the strings via the Graphtech TusQ zero fret in the Grover 150 Imperial movement with a 16:1 gear ratio and via the TOM cob in the truss rod. The guitar's luxurious finish is accentuated by the multi-layered body, fingerboard and headstock binding, five-ply Scalini pickguard, ebony potentiometer caps, gold-finished hardware and a vintage 1930s D'Angelico design (Throwback Scroll-style) headstock embellished with a mother-of-pearl D'Angelico New York logo and mother-of-pearl Excel Series inlay.
The guitar comes in a deluxe hardshell case.
