Years of research and development
Over the past two years, our R&D team has been on a mission to create the "perfect" studio monitor. Since the TRUTH B2031A was already the industry standard, our sound engineers decided to start with it and assess how far they could push the existing boundaries. They tried a wide range of transducers and sound enclosure designs along with existing and emerging technologies. When all the dust settled, they decided to fit the B1030A with a 1" ultra-high resolution dome tweeter and a 5.25" long-stroke bass driver with a Kevlar diaphragm.
Why Kevlar?
We're glad you asked. Kevlar has an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, which is why it is also used in bulletproof vests. Kevlar gives our LF transducer the power to handle the extremely high energy levels required for undistorted and body-shaking bass. And Kevlar diaphragms can respond much faster than paper diaphragms due to their very light weight, which is not only important for maintaining the integrity of the bass content, but also critical for midrange accuracy and resolution. Our Kevlar transducers reproduce even the finest details of the low frequency range without distorting the midrange.
Performance for people
Creating a studio monitor in this class involves a whole lot more than just squeezing a "bulletproof" bass driver and a technically perfect tweeter into an attractive cabinet. It also involves power - and not a little! Much more important is the fact that this power has to be matched to the individual high and low frequency drivers. While some of our competitors are content to squeeze whatever speakers they have lying around in their workshop into hastily designed cabinets and then add a 'one size fits all' amplifier kit, we build every single component from the ground up. We put 75W of bi-amping technology (including active time and phase-corrected switching) into every B1030A speaker, ensuring that you have the huge power reserves needed to really get them going wild.
Designed to operate in your environment
The ideal listening environment is a room that is "flat", free of both excessive reflections (echoes) and excessive absorptions (muffled sounds). However, since all rooms are not acoustically the same, TRUTH monitors are designed to perform their function in a wide range of situations. The monitors are equipped with switches that allow you to adjust the low and high frequency characteristics of the monitor for optimum performance specific to your listening environment.
Placement is also critically important. Speakers should ideally be placed far enough away from walls to ensure proper bass reproduction. Not to worry, the B1030A monitors are equipped with room acoustic compensation switches, allowing them to be placed against walls or even in corners. Walls tend to support the low frequency components, corners accentuate the bass even more strongly, but TRUTH monitors can be tuned to suit your situation by simply adjusting one or two switches to provide a believable bass response.
A wide, fatigue-free sweet spot
While some of our competing studio monitors exhibit a narrowly focused "sweet spot" (the optimal listening spot for a pair of speakers), our waveguide is designed to create a much more abundant and wider listening zone. This means that no hole in the carpet will be trodden in this one spot where everything sounds perfect. Inside the stereo image, you're free to move around to find the ideal point for sensitive instrument and effect positions.
Nor do you feel the detriment of 'monitor fatigue syndrome', a problem that arises from listening to content with piercing upper mids and highs for long periods of time - a pretty significant argument for all those all-night mixing sessions that get on your nerves.
What are those RCA connectors for?
Yes, placing RCA sockets on studio monitors is somewhat unusual - but why not? Now you can connect the B1030A speakers to your computer, mp3 player or TV receiver for an immersive acoustic presentation. For a universal configuration, use one of our USB audio interfaces (such as the UCA222) to connect to/from your computer. This convenient configuration allows you to monitor your recording projects and perform mixing and mastering directly from your computer. And thanks to the B1030A's internal magnetic monitor shielding, you can place these speakers right next to your video monitor.
Hearing is believing
We could bore you endlessly with the various technical jargon (if you like it, there's a special feature at the end), but hearing the TRUTH speakers will make you believe. From the "bulletproof" bass of the Kevlar woofer to the silky upper range of the HF dome tweeter, you'll probably agree with us that the B1030A is unsurpassed in this class. Compare them to the competition and opt for the BEHRINGER!
