MARTIN DSS Hops & Barley

The Martin DSS Hops & Barley acoustic guitar is a true musical jewel for true connoisseurs and collectors, limited to 100 pieces for the worldwide market. The main theme of this limited edition is the grains used in brewing, i.e. hops and barley, which decorate the fingerboard, pickguard, rosette, headstock and headstock fretboard as luxurious inlays. The guitar's construction meets elements from the vintage Authentic line (dovetail neck joint, hide glue construction, 1931 old-style logo) with more modern ones (Liquidmetal pegs, taper neck profile).

The Martin DSS Hops & Barley is a D-14 Fret Slope Shoulder with a body composed of a Sinker Redwood soundboard (a wood with impressive grain and unique characteristics, carved from logs sunk during the lumber float in Northern California) and a back and sides made from Flaid Walnut, which the manufacturer places between Hawaiian Koa and Mahogany in terms of sound. The resonance of the soundboard and the overall good acoustic qualities of the guitar are enhanced by the hand-carved X-type reduced ribbing made from European flamed maple.

An ebony fingerboard is glued to a neck made of real mahogany (wood from the Swietenia family of trees - Honduran, American/Cuban or Mexican mahogany), attached to the body at the 14th fret as standard. Precise tuning and good sustain are guaranteed by fitting the strings through a compensated saddle and bone zero fret in open vintage Butterbean pegged mechanics and an ebony fingerboard.

The refined look of the instrument is accentuated by the aforementioned luxurious inlays made of wood and mother-of-pearl, a maple top with mother-of-pearl inlay or pickguard and a Guatemalan rosewood headstock slice. The guitar comes in a case.

The American Martin company, founded in 1833, is quite deservedly one of the biggest and most respected names in stringed instruments. For decades, it has been one of the leading innovators in guitar design and manufacturing technology. However, to use only the past tense would be a great mistake; instruments with the Martin logo are still today among the guarantees of the highest quality in craftsmanship and sound. In addition, their current products use "eco-friendly" components made from renewable resources and composite materials.
