Three single-coil pickups with Alnico V magnets designed by Paul Gagon give the guitar the authentic sound and feel of the finest pickups from the late 1950s. The character of the tone can be adjusted with a volume potentiometer, two tone controls (Passive Treble and Bass) and a five-position pickup switch.
The strings are anchored in tuning machines with an 18:1 gear ratio and a Dual Fulcrum vibrato with two-point attachment. Nice workmanship is accentuated by the stylish pickguard and instrument headstock.
The G&L brand was founded in the late 1970s and early 1980s by Leo Fender, George Fullerton and Dale Hyatt. The design of electric guitars and basses with the G&L logo thus hints at what other world-famous brands might have looked like if Leo Fender had not got rid of the brand in the mid-1960s.
