The G&L Asat Classic electric guitar design represents Leo Fender's final word on the classic single-cut T design. The Asat Classic Butterscotch MP model from the more affordable Tribute series features a body made from Sassafras wood, which is increasingly replacing swamp ash thanks to its sonic qualities and similar grain, a bolt-on maple neck with a pleasing "Medium C" profile, and a maple fingerboard fitted with twenty-two Medium Jumbo nickel frets.
Two single-coil MFD (Magnetic Field Design) pickups with ceramic magnets and Leo Fender-designed adjustable pole extensions allow you to set the pickup output for each string separately. The pickups separately and in combination offer a wide range of tones - from the warm roundness of jazz to the characteristic punch of singles. The character of the sound can be adjusted using the volume potentiometers, tone shutter and three-position pickup switch.
Tuning stability and good sustain are guaranteed by anchoring the strings in tuning machines with an 18:1 gear ratio and through a steel cob with six brass saddles through the body of the instrument.
