The craftsmanship of the guitar was done by Yamaha. Visually, it's a classic ST model with a lightweight alder body, one-piece maple neck and a rosewood fingerboard fitted with twenty-two frets. Three single-coil pickups with Alnico V magnets offer a sound based on the character of the pickups of ST guitars from the 1950s, but without the annoying accompanying noise. Plus, of course, you're not relegated to the sound of one instrument; Variax HD technology opens the door to the sounds of thirteen electric guitars (ST and T models, Gibson LP and Explorer, Gretsch, Rickenbacker, Gibson and Epiphone semi-acoustic guitars) and ten acoustic models (Martin, Gibson, Guild) and other stringed instruments, including exotic ones (resonator, sitar, banjo).
Variax Workbench HD software offers opportunities for creative musicians. Simply build an instrument with the body, pickups and tuning of your choice. For the output of the guitar, you can use a classic 6.3 mm jack as well as a digital VDI connector (for instant integration with devices from the Line 6 POD HD series). Included in the package are a power adapter, a li-ion battery (needed for modeling, otherwise the guitar works like a standard electric guitar with passive pickups), a VDI to USB adapter and a USB cable.
