The body of the EX-BLACK METAL BLACK SATIN is made of mahogany. A three-piece maple neck with a set-thru construction, i.e. the neck recessed deeper into the body, is joined by an Ebony Macassar fingerboard fitted with twenty-two Extra Jumbo frets.
The active EMG 81 cobbler humbucker provides the guitar's sound with the necessary density, fullness and aggressiveness. The needs of metal players are also catered for by a simple control in the form of a single volume potentiometer. The strings are mounted in the company's locking tuning machines (LTD Locking) and through a solid Tonepros Locking TOM bridge in the stringer.
ESP has been making electric guitars since 1984 and satisfied customers include Kirk Hammett, James Hetfield, Ronnie Wood and Max Cavalera. Due to the popularity of these instruments, a subsidiary company, LTD, was created to offer popular models in an affordable option. However, even in the case of ESP-LTD guitars, great emphasis is placed on the quality of workmanship and fitted components.
