The Ibanez PA acoustic guitar range is aimed at players who like the modern percussive style of fingerstyle playing. The original asymmetrical shape of the Jumbo guitars, with a slightly larger surface area on the top of the body, offers not only beautifully full bass, but also easier access to thin strings for easier percussive tapping techniques. Percussive playing techniques are also accommodated by the shape of the headstock and body cutout.

The front of the PA230E-NSL is made of solid cedar, while the back and sides are made of plywood okoumé. Glued to the five-piece African mahogany and pau ferro neck is an ebony makasar fingerboard fitted with twenty jumbo-sized frets. The instrument's good resonance is supported by modified X-M reduced ribbing, which optimally transmits string vibrations throughout the body.

The combination of the Ibanez AP11 magnetic pickup and contact pickup ensures a faithful transmission of acoustic sound and the capture of percussive elements. The volume of the individual pickups can be adjusted using the controls in the guitar's headstock. Two jack outputs from the guitar offer the possibility of stereo and mono connection. The strings are anchored via a zero fret and compensated bone saddle in chrome Die-Cast gears with 18:1 gear ratio and ebony fingerboard. The nice workmanship is accentuated by the figured maple body binding and wooden rosette.
