The body of the guitar is made of African okoumé wood. Glued to the three-piece okoumé and maple neck is an ebony fingerboard fitted with twenty-two Narrow Tall frets. Orientation is traditionally facilitated by white position dots.
Three passive mini humbuckers with Di-Marzio ceramic magnets made specifically for Paul Gilbert offer a beautifully clear sound while maintaining the necessary drive. In tone and output signal strength, they straddle the line between humbuckers and single-coil pickups. A five-position switch is used to switch between them. Many guitarists will appreciate the placement of the potentiometers out of reach of right-hand movement, so you won't find yourself unknowingly turning down the volume while playing.
Tuning stability, good sustain, and easy string changes are guaranteed by the strings' anchoring in the chrome Die-Cast tuning machines, Gibraltar Performer low-set saddles, and Quik Change III stringers. The Fireman's stylish look is accentuated by a large black pickguard and chrome hardware.
The instrument comes in a gig bag.
