Microtubes 500v2 is the new version of the popular Microtubes 500 transistor amplifier. Like the previous version, it offers a durable construction, studio-quality VCA compressor, IR speaker simulator, MIDI connectivity and much more.
At its core is an upgraded, all-analog preamplifier and 500-watt Class-D amplifier. Detailed sound editing options are offered by a six-band graphic equalizer with extra-quiet operation, complete with TONE, BLEND potentiometers (adjusting the ratio of distorted to clean sound) or B3K/VMT switches (B3K represents more aggressive distortion, VMT offers a more vintage sound) and Microtubes. The Active/Passive button also adjusts the amp to the active/passive electronics in your bass.
Also new, for example, is an improved speaker simulation module and the ability to use it with headphone and XLR DI outputs.
As usual with the Darkglass brand, there is also a wealth of connectivity. In addition to the usual and less traditional features, it is worth mentioning the USB connector for working with Impulse Response simulations, MIDI connector for connecting a controller, Pre/Post DI XLR outputs, an effects loop, headphone output with separate volume and Aux In for connecting an external sound source. You can use external speakers with a resistance of 2 Ohms or more. There is also a footswitch input (not included), which you can use to control the Microtubes Engine and the Mute function.
