The GTe Urban Ash electroacoustic guitar extends the range of original Taylor designs. In this case, it is an all-massive instrument with a shorter menza and a compact body, which will still offer you a large resonant acoustic sound.
The GT (Grand Theater) body shape is essentially a smaller version of the Jumbo Grand Orchestra guitars. The front of the guitar is made from solid Sitka spruce, while the back and sides are made from solid American ash (Urban Ash) sourced from urban trees slated for cutting down. Sonically, Urban Ash can be compared to Honduran Mahogany - offering a clean tone with a more pronounced profile in the mids and almost no overtones/aliquots. The acoustic qualities of the guitar are elevated to a higher level by the new asymmetrical C-Class ribbing (a modified V-Class optimized for this body shape).
The mahogany neck, attached to the body at the fourteenth fret, is glued to a eucalyptus (blah) fingerboard. The same material is used for the headstock and the headplate. Position markers made of imitation mother-of-pearl make it easier to navigate the fingerboard. The strings are mounted in the company's tuning machines (Taylor Nickel Mini) over the TusQ zero fret. The nice workmanship is accentuated by traditional elements in the form of a rosette composed of three rings of Hawaiian koa and a pickguard made of imitation tortoiseshell.
The sound pickup is handled by the Taylor Expression System 2. This is a completely unique pickup method that takes the possibilities of realistic sound reproduction to unprecedented dimensions. Three specially designed independent piezoelectric pickups located behind the fingerboard are used for pickups. Unlike conventional pickups, they don't sense the up and down movement of the board, but the natural back and forth vibration of the grasshopper seat. This makes the sound much more natural, colourful and pleasing, and more responsive to the dynamics of your playing. At the same time, the new preamp makes the signal 25% stronger. Of course, feedback is eliminated and you can adjust the volume, bass and treble.
