British guitarist Rabea Massaad is one of the main faces of Chapman Guitars - he has already visited our meadows and groves as part of music festivals. So it's no surprise that Rob Chapman has been supplying him with new signature models.
The Chapman ML3 Pro BEA Baritone is a six-string baritone electric guitar with a modern T design. The alder body is adorned with a spectacular poplar root veneer and an impressive color finish. The neck and fingerboard are made of wenge. Twenty-two jumbo stainless steel frets divide the fingerboard surface. Body cutouts including a practical tummy cut and rounded fingerboard edges enhance playing comfort, while orientation around the fingerboard surface is facilitated by a distinctive inlay on the twelfth fret and side luminescent (Glow-in-the-Dark) dots that give you perfect visibility of movement on the fingerboard even in backlit environments. Thanks to the longer baritone scale (711 mm), the guitar can also cope with strong undertones.
The combination of the renowned Bare Knuckle signature humbucker and the Seymour Duncan mini-rail humbucker at the neck position gives the guitar the precisely articulated dynamic sound required in contemporary instrumental music, as well as a relatively wide range of tonal colours. Standard adjustments can be made via the volume, tone shutter and five-position super-switch potentiometers, with positions 2 and 4 offering a combination of humbucker and split-coil (only the outer humbucker coil is active).
Tuning stability, good sustain and fast string changes are guaranteed by the strings being anchored in Hipshot Grip-Lock Open locking mechanisms with an 18:1 gear ratio and through a solid Hipshot bridge through the body of the instrument.
