The Goodtime Special 17-Fret four-string tenor banjo model is among the so-called resonators, i.e. it has a domed maple wood cover with black trim on the back. The Special in the name refers to the special patented steel tone-ring. Thanks to the combination of resonator and tone-ring, the banjo has a clear tone and piercing sound that will surprise many.
The instrument's maple fingerboard is fitted with seventeen pakfong frets, and position markers in an elegant bow tie design make it easy to find your way around. An eleven-inch bellows is attached to the maple body by a steel rim. The strings are mounted in high quality closed guitar-type mechanisms and over a maple/ebony fingerboard in a nickel-plated steel stringing box.
All Deering instruments (from professional models to the entry-level Goodtime line) are made in Spring Valley, California, USA by skilled craftsmen. Here, each piece is given the same care and attention to meet strict quality standards.
