The Goodtime Plectrum is a four-string banjo suitable for flatpicking. It is one of the so-called open-back instruments, i.e. a banjo without a resonator with an open back plate. Its sound is most often associated with traditional jazz/dixieland.
The instrument's maple fingerboard is fitted with twenty-two pakfong frets, and orientation around its surface is facilitated by position markers in a Bow Tie design. The aforementioned maple body is fitted with an eleven-inch steel rim. The strings are held in place by guitar-style tuning mechanisms on one side, and via a maple/ebony fingerboard in a nickel-plated steel stringing box on the other.
All Deering instruments (from professional models to the entry-level Goodtime line) are made in Spring Valley, California, USA by skilled craftsmen. Here, each piece is given the same care and attention to meet strict quality standards.
