The range of acoustic guitars of the Canadian brand Godin is extended by the Imperial Laguna Blue electroacoustic model.
It is a full-massive instrument, which combines the classic shape of Dreadnought "western" guitars with the narrower body of Concert Hall type guitars. The front of the guitar is made of Sitka spruce, the back and sides of mahogany. The combination of solid woods guarantees a resonant sound, plus the instrument will break up as the years go by. Glued to the mahogany neck is a richlite composite fingerboard fitted with twenty-one frets. Orientation on its surface is traditionally facilitated by position dots and a distinctive position marker on the twelfth fret.
The sound is captured by the Tru-Mic system, which uses a combination of microphone pickups (attached to the underside of the fingerboard) and an Element piezo pickup. The preamp with soundhole installation offers volume controls, microphone to pickup ratio (MIX), phase function and battery level indicator.
The strings are mounted in the company's tuning machines (18:1 Bass side, 26:1 Treble side gear ratio) and in an ebony headstock. The beautiful workmanship of the instrument is accentuated by the Laguna Blue finish of the top, the pickguard and veneer on the headstock made of imitation tortoiseshell, the light body binding, a simple rosette composed of black and white rings and the company logo on the headstock.
