RODE VideoMic NTG

Revolutionary acoustic design
Like the NTG5, the VideoMic NTG features new circular port technology that uses acoustic perforations along the length of the microphone, replacing the linear slits familiar from other shotgun microphones. This revolutionary acoustic design provides unparalleled transparency and natural, uncolored sound. Add to this an incredibly balanced frequency response, highly directional supercardioid characteristics and very low noise, and you have a compact camera microphone that boldly rivals the best "shotgun" microphones on the market.

The most flexible of the VideoMic family ever
The VideoMic NTG is extremely flexible and offers a range of tools and features to help you handle any recording situation. The microphone offers a digital high-pass filter switch (selectable 75 Hz or 150 Hz), a high-frequency "boost" to bring out clarity and detail, an attenuation switch ( -20 dB), and a safety channel that allows you to record with 20dB of attenuation on a separate track in case the main recording channel fails.

The VideoMic NTG also has several unique features, including an infinitely variable gain control that allows you to precisely adjust the output as needed. Equally interesting is the auto-adaptive 3.5mm output, which recognizes which device you've connected the microphone to - whether a camera or mobile device - and adjusts the connectivity accordingly. This eliminates the complicated combinations when using TRS/TRRS cable adapters. There's also a handy warning LED to indicate signal overshoot, so you're able to prevent recorded audio material from going "to clip".

To operate, the VideoMic NTG uses an internal rechargeable lithium-ion battery that provides over 30 hours of operation on a full charge - enough to record even the most demanding footage. Charges via the included USB-C connector (from empty capacity to full charge in 2 hours). In practice, this means you can use the microphone even with the power supply connected.

In addition to its perfect connection with DSLR cameras, compact cameras and smartphones, it can be boldly used for point-and-shoot either on camera, microphone sticks or in a pistol grip. But the funniest part is that thanks to the USB port, you also have a full-featured USB microphone in the VideoMic NTG that can be easily connected to your computer, tablet or smartphone. In no time at all, you have the perfect tool for recording voice calls, podcasts, gaming commentary or live streams. When connected via USB, you'll appreciate that the 3.5mm jack can be used as a headphone output for direct audio monitoring. Headphone volume can be controlled with the same switch used to adjust the microphone signal gain. Thanks to this variability, the 3.5mm connector can deliver all the signal levels needed - from microphone, to line level, to the level required by the connected headphones.
