The Premier range represents the more affordable instruments in the D'Angelico portfolio, but they meet all the quality craftsmanship requirements associated with the brand. The DC semi-hollow model is the company's answer to the growing demand for guitars with two cutaways. In its construction, the manufacturers have kept the versatility of the instrument foremost in mind. Thanks to D'Angelico's proprietary humbuckers, it provides everything from crystal clear, warm, tones to blues/rock overdrive. It can thus appeal to a wide range of musicians from jazz purists to blues/rockers and fusion lovers.
The body of the guitar is made of laminated maple and a solid center block. A maple neck with Set-Thru construction, i.e. a neck recessed deeper into the body, is glued to an ovangkol fingerboard fitted with twenty-two Medium-sized frets. The neck's narrow C profile ensures smooth finger movement on the fingerboard and a comfortable fingerboard feel, while the positioning blocks made of imitation mother-of-pearl facilitate orientation on the fingerboard surface.
The body of the guitar is balanced by a typical Mother-of-Pearl headstock. Stylish Rotomatic Stairstep mechanics take care of tuning stability. On the other hand, the strings are attached to the stringboard via a Tune-O-Matic type bridge. The stylish look is complemented by the cream binding around the body of the instrument, chrome hardware and a five-ply Scalini pickguard.
