Specifically, the AM93ME model is a contemporary interpretation of the original AM Ibanez design from the 1980s. Like all Artcore Expressionist instruments, it offers a warm, balanced sound with excellent dynamic response from Ibanez's popular Super 58 passive humbuckers with Alnico magnets. Their satisfied "users" include jazz guitar legends such as Pat Metheny and John Scofield, as well as funk player Eric Krasno.
The body of the guitar is made of Makasar ebony with a great wood grain. To the neck, composed of three pieces of exotic nyatoh and maple wood, is glued an ebony fingerboard fitted with twenty-two Medium-size frets and position blocks made of imitation mother-of-pearl. Tuning stability and good sustain are guaranteed by the Gibraltar Performer's fixed headstock and Quick Change III string changer, which, as the name suggests, allows for quick and easy string changes. The stylish design is accentuated by bright trim, gold hardware, a practical imitation tortoiseshell pickguard, Sure Grip III potentiometers and a logo on the headstock.
