This electric guitar from Japanese brand Ibanez is the signature model of American rock guitarist Andy Timmons.
The body of the guitar is made of alder. The maple neck and fingerboard have undergone a patented S-Tech heat treatment process before assembly, which improves the wood's properties (stability, durability, resistance to water and temperature fluctuations) while giving the guitar a nice vintage touch. The fingerboard itself is fitted with Jumbo size stainless steel frets with modified edges for added playing comfort. Orientation around its surface is made easier by dark position dots.
Three passive DiMarzio The Cruiser pickups with ceramic magnets and a milder output signal give the guitar a cool dynamic sound that could be likened to traditional single-coil Strat pickups on steroids without their (beloved by some, annoying to others) hum. Two volume potentiometers, a tone shutter and a five-position pickup switch are used to adjust the sound. Stability of tuning is guaranteed by mounting the strings in Gotoh Magnum Lock locking mechanisms and Wilkinson-Gotoh VSVG single-turn tremolo. The stylish look of the guitar is accentuated by the sunburst flat finish, chrome hardware and a practical pickguard.
