Paul Reed Smith's PRS guitars are among the most versatile and reliable instruments ever made. The S2 Standard 22 electric guitar offers the classic PRS shape with two cutaways. It differs from the Custom version by the absence of a maple top veneer and a distinctive pickguard that gives it the look of a vintage instrument. The mahogany body features distinctly beveled edges that promote overall playing ergonomics, and its resonant qualities provide the basis for a dense sound with rich sustain. A rosewood fingerboard with twenty-two frets is glued to a mahogany neck with a Pattern Regular profile. Position dots make it easy to navigate its surface.

A pair of humbuckers gives the guitar a clean sound with punchy mids, making it a great fit for the band's sound. Its character can be adjusted using the volume and tone shutter potentiometers. The Push/Pull tone shutter function allows you to open the coils of the humbuckers to achieve a sound with pure single-coil character. Combined with the three switch positions, the guitar offers six different pickup configurations, making it easy to adapt the sound to any musical genre or playing technique.

Tuning stability is ensured by the fit of the strings in the factory single-turn tremolo and locking tuning mechanisms, which prevent unwanted string movement.
