The Goodtime series is the basic series of banjos from the American manufacturer Deering. Their common feature is a quality body made of three layers of maple wood (violin grade), which gives the instrument a round, full, tone. Offering good playability and holding tuning beautifully, they are an ideal first choice for beginning banjo players of all ages.
The basic model of the Goodtime five-string banjo is one of the so-called open-back instruments, i.e. a banjo without a resonator with an open back plate. Its sound can be used in a wide range of styles from bluegrass, folk to jazz. Weighing under two kilograms, it is a great instrument for children and a practical companion for travel, holidays, etc. Its maple fingerboard is fitted with twenty-two pakfong frets, and orientation around its surface is facilitated by design position markers. An eleven-inch bellows is attached to the maple body by a steel rim. The strings are mounted in quality sealed mechanisms (including the fifth pin) on one side, and in a nickel-plated steel stringing box over a maple/ebony fingerboard on the other.
All Deering instruments (from professional models to the entry-level Goodtime line) are made in Spring Valley, California, USA by skilled craftsmen. Here, each piece is given the same care and attention to meet strict quality standards.
