The Premier range represents the more affordable instruments in the D'Angelico portfolio, but they meet all the quality craftsmanship requirements associated with the brand. The SS series semi-hollowbody guitars with a single-cut body shape, i.e. with a single, bottom cutout, attract attention with their sonic versatility. With two humbuckers (Duncan Designed), it provides everything from crystal clear, warm, tones to blues/rock overdrive. It can thus appeal to a wide range of musicians from jazz purists to blues/rockers and fusion lovers.

The body of the guitar is made of laminated maple. The ovangkol fingerboard is fitted with twenty-two Medium Jumbo frets, the individual positions are marked by mother-of-pearl blocks. The narrow C profile of the neck guarantees smooth movement of the fingers on the fingerboard and a comfortable finish.

The body of the guitar is balanced by a typical headstock with glued ebony veneer and mother-of-pearl company logo. Stylish Rotomatic Stairstep mechanics take care of tuning stability. On the other hand, the strings are attached to the strings via a tune-o-matic type bridge. A five-layer Scalini pickguard made of imitation tortoiseshell protects the guitar's lacquer from possible scratches caused by pick playing. The stylish look is complemented by a three-layer cream trim around the body of the instrument and chrome hardware.
