The soundboard of this guitar is made of pressure-tested solid spruce, decorated with an impressive semi-gloss finish in honey gold colours. The back and sides are made from three layers of ply-wooded solid cherry, giving the instrument a tonal character that straddles the line between the warm sound of mahogany and the clarity of maple. The maple neck is joined by a rosewood fingerboard fitted with twenty-one frets. Orientation is traditionally facilitated by position dots. The lower cutaway offers good matching even at higher fretboard positions.
The guitar is sounded by a Godin G1T preamp with volume control, two-band equalizer and built-in tuner. Tuning stability is guaranteed by the enclosed chrome-plated mechanics with design elements in the form of silhouettes of racks. The stylish design of the instrument is accentuated by a pickguard made of imitation tortoiseshell, decorative rosette, white trim and logo on the headstock.
The history of the Canadian company Seagul dates back to 1982 and its philosophy is clear - to produce instruments using concepts familiar from custom guitar making so that even hard-working musicians can afford them. As a result, Seagul instruments are characterised by the use of solid woods and elaborate finishes, for example, so that they impress in both sound and appearance.
