Playing field
The SPD-SX features nine high-sensitivity rubber pads with two independent control knobs and four special effects buttons. Roland's most advanced trigger technology ensures perfect accuracy and full dynamic range, and the large backlit LCD display makes it easy to read data in any playing environment. Each pad has its own LED to indicate the current status of the pad. When you trigger a sample phrase, the LEDs whose pads are playing light up, the others do not. In addition, the LEDs change the intensity of the backlighting according to the current audio signal level (similar to mixer scales). A high-contrast red dividing line helps to distinguish pad zones even on a darkened stage.

The included SPD-SX Wave Manager software application allows you to import audio files directly from your computer via USB, assign samples to each pad, and efficiently organize thousands of samples.
