The soundboard of this guitar is made of pressure-tested solid cedar. The back and sides are made from three layers of plywood, which gives the instrument a tonal character that straddles the line between the warm sound of mahogany and the clarity of maple. A thin layer of gloss lacquer enhances the cherry wood grain while allowing the cedar top to "breathe" and resonate. A rosewood fingerboard fitted with twenty-one frets adjoins the maple neck. Orientation is traditionally facilitated by position dots.
The guitar's sound is provided by a Fishman Sonitone preamp with volume and tone controls located in the instrument's soundboard. Stability of tuning is guaranteed by high quality enclosed gears with high gear ratio. The stylish design of the instrument is accentuated by a pickguard made of imitation tortoiseshell, decorative rosette, bright trim and logo on the headstock.
The history of the Canadian company Seagul dates back to 1982 and its philosophy is clear - to produce instruments using concepts known from custom guitar manufacturing so that even hard-working musicians can afford them. As a result, Seagul instruments are characterised by the use of solid woods and elaborate finishes, for example, so that they impress in both sound and appearance.
