Although it may surprise you, high-end MEMS microphone technology is commonly used in smartphones. These microphones are very efficient and offer excellent reliability and sensing quality. They provide an accurate and flat frequency response while being resistant to mechanical vibrations that produce unwanted sounds, thus providing a clear and open sound. The iRig microphone itself is omnidirectional and has a frequency range of 30 Hz - 20 kHz. Installation is very easy. Use the clip to clip it onto the edge of the acoustic hole and you're immediately ready to play music. You can use this advantage, for example, when quickly changing instruments during a performance.
The mobile 32-bit digital preamp analyzes the incoming signal from the guitar and creates the optimal tonal profile of the instrument to achieve a warm, round and balanced sound. The character of the tone can be expanded with 6 presets. 3 presets (natural, warm, bright) are for instruments with metal strings and the same for nylon strings. However, you can calibrate the preamp specifically for your instrument to achieve the most authentic sound. If you are using an electro-acoustic guitar, you can connect a built-in pickup to the preamp and use the MIX potentiometer to adjust the volume ratio between the pickup and the iRig microphone. Another invaluable feature is the elimination of feedback with the Cancel Feedback button. Simply press this, and the system analyzes the problematic frequency and "cuts" it out of the frequency spectrum.
As mentioned, iRig offers connectivity to a computer or mobile device, via a USB cable. So you don't have to spend a fortune on a studio to record your acoustic guitar, your favourite DAW or other app will do the trick.
