The Japanese company Ibanez needs no long introduction to guitarists and bassists. It has been on the musical instruments market since the first half of the last century and during that time it has been popular with many musicians - Joe Satriani or Steve Vai to name a few. Ibanez is also known for its penchant for design, which is why the company is responsible for several unique guitar and bass models. The perfect craftsmanship needs no reminder. Ibanez has continued to set trends right up to the present day.
In the case of this bass guitar based on the Artstar series, it is the signature model of renowned jazzman George Benson.
The front of this guitar is made of spruce wood, while the sides and back are made of maple. A three-piece maple neck is glued to the body, to which sits an ebony fingerboard with twenty-two Medium-sized frets that have a special finish. The gauge of the instrument is 628 mm, the zero fret measures 43 mm.
The sound of the instrument is captured by two GB Special humbuckers with Alnico magnets, which are not mounted directly on the body but a few millimeters above it. This makes them resistant to feedback. The pickups can be switched between by a three-position switch, so that both can be wired together or separately. Two each of the volume and tone controls are used to further shape the tone.
The strings are anchored in a tortoiseshell inlaid stringboard and pass through a wooden fingerboard made of ebony. There is also a tortoiseshell pickguard over one of the "F" holes and tuning mechanisms with mother-of-pearl pins. The hardware is in gold finish.
