The body of the guitar is made of mahogany. A thin lacquer made of nitrocellulose allows the wood to breathe and thus improves its resonance properties. The bolted maple neck with a pleasant Modern C profile is glued to an ebony fingerboard with twenty-two Medium Jumbo frets. Position dots make it easy to navigate the fingerboard surface.
Two high output EMG active humbuckers give the instrument a full, thick sound ideal for playing harder rock and metal genres, as well as the precise articulation needed when tuning the guitar strings. A volume potentiometer and three-position pickup switch are used to adjust the sound.
The strings are held in place via a synthetic bone fretboard in a Deluxe Staggered Cast/Sealed Locking tuning mechanism and a solid six-saddle cob with the strings anchored through the body of the instrument. The guitar's stylish look is accentuated by the company's signature logo on the headstock, black hardware and a single-layer pickguard that also protects the lacquer from scratches.
The guitar comes in a luxurious tweed case.
The Fender Artist line offers signature models of electric guitars and basses from famous musicians who have made an indelible mark on rock music history. To name a few, Eric Clapton, Ritchie Blackmore, Steve Ray Vaughan, Mark Knopfler, Jeff Beck, Eric Johnson, Jimmie Hendrix, Dave Murray, Roger Waters and Flea from RHCP.
